Probably one of the most toughest things about Remote Touch is when you first install it, following the console commands etc etc. Very painful !
Now I've made Remote Touch 1.3 using a MSI installer like all your regular desktop apps.
What does this mean for you ?
1. You have a nice installer which will install for All Users on your machine.
2. If you connect your phone via ActiveSync, Remote Touch gets installed on your phone. (No need for you to manually copy it). I strongly recommend doing this BEFORE you start the installer.
3. If you need to uninstall Remote Touch, you will find it in your normal Add and Remove Programs list in the Control Panel.
About the only bad thing I can say about the MSI is it added 400 KB to my files !
I'm really glad I did this and those folks who had Vista problems will hopefully be fine with this new installer.

ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't msi work for you ?
You need to have admin access as this software tries to install for all users on the machine.
Any chances for zip? msi insist on installing .net framework which i will not do whatsoever (its bloated, its useles)

ReplyDeleteI trying really hard to avoid releasing as a zip.
Email me and I'll mail you the executables (as a RAR).
You'll have to put it in the start up manually and transfer it to your phone manually as that was what the MSI used to do.
I don't mind manually setting things up (I'm a control freak (; ). The strange thing is that msi installer require .net framework. Few seconds ago I've downloaded Opera with msi installer and .net wasn't required. AFAIR t2r didn't need .net to work (at desktop at least) - does this changed (i.e. .net is required)?

ReplyDeleteThat's right I don't use .NET for my coding.
I did however use .NET for parts of the installer since I didn't care about performance just that it worked. Apparently, that wasn't my best decision. :)
Anyway, rather than mailing ppl all day, I've decided to just put a link on the download page for the ZIP. I still don't support it, and you have to manually install it - which you like. :)

Thanks once again for zipped version! :)
